About the event
Cumberland Island is Georgia's southernmost barrier island, a National Seashore and designated wilderness area. Wild horses roam the island, sea turtles nest on the dunes and an array of wild creatures inhabit the island that feels truly magical.
Join WILD on our first trip of 2025! This ladies beginning-ish backpacking trip we will head out to explore 2 of Cumberland’s wilderness sites. Meeting at the Cumberland Island National Seashore’s visitor center at 7:45am EST on Friday February 21st. After we board the 9:00am ferry and arrive on the island, backpacking trip in Cumberland Island’s designated wilderness on the northern part of the island.
Once we arrive on the island, we will backpack the 10 miles to the iconic Brickhill Bluff campsite, set up camp and explore the area. Saturday morning we will awake, pack up then 7 miles down to the last wilderness site at Hickory Hill. Finally on Sunday…
