Cumberland Island Backpacking Trip

Cumberland Island is Georgia's southernmost barrier island, a National Seashore and designated wilderness area. Wild horses roam the island, sea turtles nest on the dunes and an array of wild creatures inhabit the island that feels truly magical.

Join WILD on our ladies only beginning backpacking trip as we head out to explore Cumberland Island. Meeting in St. Mary's on Friday morning we will take the ferry boat to Cumberland Island. Once on the island we will backpack the 5.5 miles to Hickory Hill Campsite which is one of three campgrounds in Cumberland Island’s designated wilderness on the northern part of the island. We will camp Friday night at Hickory Hill, then awake Saturday and spend the day exploring the area around our campsite - including the beautiful beach, then return back to Hickory Hill for another night of camping.
